About the Role
The Pursuit Manager leads and manages proposals through the full lifecycle, ensuring efficient, consistent, and professional completion. This role acts as an advocate for best practices and a specialist information resource, collaborating with fee earners to leverage experience and capabilities for consistent client responses.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the entire pursuit process for major opportunities from priority key clients and new business.
- Obtain proposal scope from lawyers, draft, edit, and proofread content, ensuring adherence to protocols, corporate standards, and best practices.
- Develop and manage collaborative relationships with practice areas and sector teams.
- Recommend and apply appropriate structure and presentation for consistent client responses.
- Handle preliminary bid preparation, credentials collection, and standard content management.
- Create, source, and develop high-quality materials for standard pitch content.
- Research and review market, industry, competitive, and business information for successful pitches.
- Continuously review proposal templates and content against competitor activity and feedback for best practice benchmarking.
- Monitor the use of standard proposal templates and forms, maintaining global brand guidelines.
- Provide presentation coaching support to lawyers.
- Assist global offices with proposals involving Canada.
- Conduct debriefs and analyses of proposal feedback to improve future proposal quality.
- Support directory and award submissions and matter collection efforts.
- Update and maintain the proposal tracking system, precedents, and standard materials.
- Ensure timely distribution of finalized proposal content to appropriate mediums and stakeholders.
- Assist with frequent reporting, including strategic management reports.
- Provide presentation coaching support for lawyers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or recognized technical college degree in marketing or business is an asset.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a marketing, business development, or related role.
- Self-starter with initiative and proactivity in developing ideas and solutions.
- Experience in a proposals function or similar, preferably in a legal services firm.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Superior proofreading skills and attention to detail.
- Proven creative and layout design skills.
- Advanced IT skills, including advanced Word and Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
- Ability to liaise confidently and build relationships with people at all levels.
- Bilingual in English and French.
