About the Role
T-Mobile is seeking a motivated and skilled Field Technician in the New York Metropolitan area to provide technical support, manage projects, and contribute to operational improvements. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing network performance and reliability in the Queens, New York territory.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to resolve network performance issues and contribute to outage resolution efforts.
- Manage smaller projects or project segments, delivering accurate status and progress updates.
- Identify and recommend process improvements related to maintenance and repair activities.
- Assist in developing job aids, scopes of work, and procedural documentation.
- Complete required training to maintain current knowledge of systems, products, and organizational standards.
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned by business management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree OR combination of education and relevant experience deemed equivalent.
- 2-4 years of working experience in Field Operations and maintenance.
- 2-4 years of Wireless telecommunications or other related experience.
- Basic operational knowledge and theory of all interconnecting circuits including RF transmitters, antenna systems, AAV, fiber, microwave radio and AC-DC power systems, and AI.
- Practical knowledge of RAN architecture, components, and operations, with the ability to support deployment, maintenance, and optimization activities.
- Understanding of wireless backhaul technologies and configurations.
- Demonstrated experience with, or the ability to learn, Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment and 5G NR standards.
- Working knowledge of base station equipment, installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Actively grow skills through ongoing training, certifications, and hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery protocols and the ability to complete contingency plans.
- Ability to systematically identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete field assignments efficiently.
- Ability to provide hands-on technical assistance and field-level support.
- Attention to detail.
- Solves problems using creativity and innovation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and similar productivity tools.
- Understanding of Internet Protocol and willingness to incorporate AI-driven tools.
- Ability to use fiber test, line and antenna test equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated; exhibits initiative in achieving company goals and objectives.
- Basic leadership skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
- Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Flexibility with ever-changing environments and priorities.
- Flexible hours are a must, including day and night work, on-call rotation, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 50-70 pounds.
- Ability to work outside in the elements.
- At least 21 years of age to operate a company assigned vehicle.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
