About the Role
Premier Health Partners, PC, a partner of Erie County Medical Center (ECMC), seeks a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join their ambulatory team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care, supporting medical staff, and performing Patient Services Representative duties. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping others and possesses the necessary medical knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examinations by rooming, taking vital signs, height/weight, recording reason for visit and medical histories.
- Greets and checks in patients, verifies demographics, checks insurance eligibility, and collects payments.
- Answers and directs phone calls, addressing patient inquiries and redirecting clinical needs to nurses or providers.
- Performs routine lab tests and collects/labels laboratory specimens.
- Schedules patient appointments and manages the appointment calendar.
- Maintains accurate patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and paper files.
- Obtains patient insurance information, demographics, and prior authorizations for testing.
- Ensures cleanliness of patient rooms, stocks medical supplies, and manages inventory.
- Ensures patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participates in staff development and staff meetings.
- Provides excellent customer service with professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Performs other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, preferred
- Certification as a Medical Assistant, preferred
- 1 year experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting, preferred
Skills
- Proficient in performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, updating patient chart information and recording other medical data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
