About the Role
Lead the team that turns craft into shared, reusable building blocks, including libraries, tokens, and components. This role bridges design and code, ensuring faster shipping and a unified product experience across Adobe.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the direction for the design system across design and creative technology.
- Articulate the audience, behavior shift, user value, assertion, metric, and decision for each initiative.
- Set and protect a clear standard of quality for usefulness, usability, and modernity.
- Act as a player-coach, delegating work and growing designers and technologists through coaching and clear ownership.
- Own the design-to-code bridge end to end, ensuring clean handoffs from design to engineering.
- Drive adoption and education across surfaces and make the system’s value visible to leadership.
- Partner with product management, engineering, and research on strategy, priorities, and staffing.
- Influence stakeholders through high-stakes decisions.
Requirements
- 8+ years in design, including experience leading and growing teams, ideally in design systems, platform design, or a closely related space.
- Proficiency at the intersection of design and code, comfortable translating designs into production-quality UI and informing design from code.
- Strong front-end skills (TypeScript, React, CSS, animation) with judgment for feasibility, scalability, and performance.
- A deep eye for craft and detail, holding a pixel-perfect quality bar across implementation and interactions.
- Ability to think in systems and build reusable, maintainable component libraries with tokens, variables, and accessibility.
- Ability to move fast, prototyping ideas in hours to validate concepts before full build.
- Excitement about AI and defining new interaction paradigms.
- Connect design craft to measurable business and customer impact, reason in assertions, evidence, and trade-offs, and frame problems before jumping to solutions.
- Collaborative, people-first leadership style, coaching designers and engineers, influencing senior partners, and creating shared ownership.
