About the Role

Volkswagen Downtown Toronto is seeking a Pre-Owned Sales Manager to oversee the sales, profitability, and inventory management of all Pre-Owned vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and annual department objectives for sales, gross turnover, and expenses.
  • Implement and monitor a customer search and sales control system for potential buyers.
  • Provide daily updates on floor activities to supervisor.
  • Manage marketing and advertising activities.
  • Complete and forward transaction sheets to accounting.
  • Establish and maintain standards for vehicle delivery to customers.
  • Process Sales Consultants' commission sheets.
  • Evaluate incoming Pre-Owned vehicles, verifying title, mechanical condition, and bodywork.
  • Ensure vehicles for retail sale are covered by a legal warranty.
  • Plan and manage vehicle display in the parking area.
  • Stay informed about federal, provincial, and municipal regulations governing Pre-Owned vehicle sales.
  • Keep updated on manufacturer's products, programs, and financial institution events, notifying the sales team of changes.
  • Monitor market trends to guide vehicle stocking decisions.
  • Source quality vehicles through various advertising channels.
  • Implement and direct a 45-day vehicle turnover policy.
  • Perform dealer trades as required.
  • Manage Pre-Owned vehicle reconditioning within budget.
  • Create and maintain a network for wholesale and retail vehicle transactions.
  • Attend vehicle auctions as approved.
  • Monitor Gross Profit (GP) from auction purchases and compare with GP from trade-ins.
  • Develop and manage wholesale activities.
  • Direct and assist Sales Consultants in setting monthly objectives.
  • Provide support to Sales Consultants.
  • Monitor Sales Consultant activities to ensure high Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) results.
  • Encourage departmental teamwork.
  • Maintain communication with the New Vehicle department and other departments.
  • Perform other tasks as required by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Automotive industry experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of previous management experience in the automotive industry.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence.
  • Clear Driver’s Abstract.
  • Valid OMVIC registration.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Proficient with 180, CDK systems; ability to operate PC-based software.
  • Ability to sell the minimum quota according to dealership objectives.
