About the Role
The MFL (Mathematical Finance Library) Mortgage Quant is responsible for quantitative, analytical, technical, and development activities for the mortgage trading desks. The role provides traders, marketers, senior management, and control groups with models, tools, analytics, reports, and market data to effectively price, execute, and hedge new transactions, and to understand and manage existing risk.
Responsibilities
- Develop new mathematical and computational methods for pricing deals and managing risk, and integrate models into the MFL library and FO applications.
- Maintain the existing suite of models in the MFL library.
- Profile and investigate new models/approaches to improve model performance.
- Assist traders in using MFL for daily pricing and risk management.
- Interact with external control groups outside of FO to facilitate their understanding and usage of MFL models.
- Aggregate, organize, and analyze market and trade data for research and reporting.
- Engage in discussions with traders, senior management, and risk managers regarding deal modeling, pricing, hedging, risk measurement, and risk management.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in a technical field (mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, computer science, etc.).
- Broad knowledge of mortgage and other asset-backed products is a strong plus.
- Software development experience (C++, Python).
- Knowledge of Excel.
- Strong technical writing ability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of colleagues, including other technical professionals, traders, marketers, senior management, back office, and risk management.
