About the Role
The successful applicant will contribute to two alcohol labelling research studies led by Dr. Erin Hobin, focusing on experimental evidence testing the effectiveness of alcohol labels on consumer outcomes. This research addresses the evidence needs of Canadian and international decision-making bodies, including Health Canada and the World Health Organization. The role involves contributing to research processes for two distinct studies: a randomized field experiment on alcohol warning labels and a pilot project assessing a dried blood spot collection protocol for alcohol exposure biomarkers.
Responsibilities
- Support the collection, cleaning, and management of primary data.
- Apply data integrity checks and cleaning to primary datasets.
- Contribute to survey development and testing, including logic and participant-facing materials.
- Assist with study administration and recruitment planning.
- Provide participant support, including responding to questions and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Understand survey methods.
- Support primary data collection.
- Assist with study administration planning and materials.
- Engage with public health practitioners and community leaders.
- Contribute to status and data reports for funding partners.
- Contribute to the development of data collection tools and surveys.
- Deliver an oral presentation of the projects’ methods and results to a public health audience.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in an academic program requiring a practicum placement.
- Must be currently residing in Ontario and attending a Canadian academic institution.
- Current enrollment in a Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
