About the Role
The Medical Assistant (MA) – Multi-Specialty position offers an opportunity to expand knowledge and skills in a Multi-Specialty Clinic environment. The MA plays a central role in patient care, performing various duties under the direction of licensed medical and/or nursing personnel, collaborating with the care team to ensure effective patient care and positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the patient’s care team to optimize clinical outcomes.
- Works as a team member, interacting with staff, patients, and providers to communicate and coordinate patient care and workflow effectively.
- Improves the patient experience by completing pre-visit planning, reviewing notes, and ensuring results are documented.
- Enhances the patient experience by practicing AIDET during each patient interaction.
- Rooms patients consistent with standardized workflow, including verifying patient information, documenting vital signs, and other required information.
- Performs appropriate procedures such as EKG, spirometry, specimen collection, and wound care as required and competency validated.
- Performs clinical duties as assigned, including administering medications, preparing exam rooms, and assisting providers.
- Dismisses patients by completing orders, delivering education, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Enhances the patient experience by performing in-basket management, addressing MyChart messages, and assisting with pre-certifications and referrals.
- Respects patient confidentiality and treats patients with courtesy and respect.
- Collaborates and communicates respectfully with all members of the care team.
- Develops and maintains favorable internal relationships with co-workers.
- Participates in daily patient care huddles.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement projects.
- Attends staff meetings and education offerings.
- Supports organizational initiatives to promote a strong positive workplace culture.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant externship.
- Holds and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through approved American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of activities associated with the delivery of quality Medical Assistant duties.
- High level of skill at building relationships and providing excellent customer service.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience Level
- One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience preferably in an ambulatory clinic setting with Specialty services (Preferred)
Education Level
- Medical Assistant Diploma and/or National Medical Assistant Certification.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
