About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer who possesses a deep understanding of building performant web interfaces. This role involves autonomous work to translate knowledge into exceptional web products and design systems, addressing the complexity of financial products for a diverse user base. The ideal candidate will bring product intuition, identify issues, and influence the direction of development.

Responsibilities

Work autonomously across web products, building high-quality UI with a strong point of view on its feel, function, and performance.
Own and evolve complex, reusable components within the Aave design system, setting standards for quality and consistency.
Set the bar for frontend performance, including data loading, fetching, caching patterns, server rendering, and streaming.
Apply product-level thinking to understand user needs, business context, and technical constraints, balancing them effectively.
Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product leads to clarify ambiguous problems.
Raise the team's standards through work quality and problem-solving approach.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, CSS, system design, and architecture.
Deep experience in frontend performance engineering (measuring, diagnosing, and fixing).
Strong command of Next.js patterns for data loading, fetching, caching, server rendering, and streaming data.
Deep experience with component-driven design systems and component design patterns for scalable consistency.
Product sense to work without a detailed brief, identifying problems independently.
Demonstrated ability to simplify complex UX problems, including information-dense interfaces, multi-step flows, and edge cases.
