About the Role
Engineers in the Ship Signatures Department ensure that ship components, systems, and structures meet challenging radiated noise requirements. This role focuses on advancing the state-of-the-art in acoustic analysis methods and developing noise control concepts for submarine designs.
Responsibilities
- Use signal processing, data analysis, and finite element modeling experience to develop new acoustic analysis tools and methods.
- Advance the capabilities of the ship signatures department.
- Develop productive relationships with internal and external customers, including collaborating across engineering organizations and disciplines, ship construction teams, government contractors, and the Navy customer.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet project schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics.
- 5+ years of post-graduation engineering experience in acoustics, vibrations, finite element analysis, signal processing, or testing.
- An active SECRET clearance, or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics (Preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant work experience including acoustics, linear vibrations, structural dynamics, finite element analysis (FEA), digital signal processing, analog to digital processing, filter design, digital system design, product testing and data analysis (Preferred).
- Experience using modeling and finite element software such as Altair HyperWorks, Ansys, Abaqus, and/or other computational modeling and finite element tools (Preferred).
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink (Preferred).
