About the Role
The purpose of this position is to perform work involved in preparing dining room or party room, serving food, wines, and other alcoholic beverages, and subsequent cleaning functions.
Responsibilities
- Assigned to workstation by the supervisor and given specific and detailed instructions.
- Comply with standard methods and procedures such as conduct, etiquette, dress code, and table setting techniques.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, walk and do moderate lifting for long periods of time.
- Must have knowledge of and maintain a high standard of sanitation, courtesy, and expeditious service.
- Experience serving beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence.
- Knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from.
- Knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu, whether American or Foreign.
- Knowledge of available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures.
- Skill in proper table setting techniques.
- Knowledge of simple math calculations in order to tabulate checks.
- Ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol.
- Residency Requirements: Non-U.S. nationals, who are authorized to work in the U.S. and applying for any DHS position, must have resided within the United States, or U.S. territories, for at least three of the last five years.
- Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.
- Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless covered by an exemption under the Selective Service Law, in accordance with 5 U.S. Code 3378.
- Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check and all pre-employment requirements, which may include, but are not limited to, background checks, security clearances, drug testing, verification of employment history, and any other requirements applicable to this position.
- Applicants may not be employed in the chain of command of their relatives.
