About the Role
A janitor is responsible for cleaning hard floor surfaces, carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and collecting and removing garbage. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs, and other surfaces inside buildings.
- Perform stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets, and window cleaning upon request.
- Wash windowsills, interior door glass, partition glass, and specified windows.
- Clean glass and trim at entrance doors, both interior and exterior.
- Perform daily spot cleaning of interior walls.
- Clean bathrooms daily, restocking paper supplies and performing standard bathroom cleaning procedures.
- Assist the supervisor with additional tasks as needed.
- Monitor for and report potential defects such as clogged urinals and lights out to supervisors.
- Clean showers in two buildings located across the street from each other.
- Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and move it to the designated collection area.
- Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers according to specifications.
- Perform high dusting and wall washing.
- Operate compactors, lift up to 50lbs, use heavy-duty cleaning machines, and change garbage.
Requirements
- Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
- Capacity to function cooperatively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using cleaning tools and equipment.
- Must possess own transportation.
- Requires attention to detail, pride in service delivery, organization, and high energy levels.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
