About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for creating and enhancing processes and systems by leveraging new technologies and automation. This role will research automation techniques, test new systems for efficiency, and assist in the planning of factory layouts to optimize production.
Responsibilities
- Work with Product Design Engineers and Production Engineers to improve product design for ease of manufacturing and assembly.
- Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to provide management with reports and statistics for process optimization.
- Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Analyze production data to determine root causes for machine downtime, implement preventative maintenance schedules, and train operators.
- Coordinate equipment, maintenance, and repairs to ensure manufacturers procedures and instructions are followed.
- Maintain manufacturing process documentation (SOP’s), including technical reports and process specifications.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities through Lean Waste reduction, 5S, value stream mapping, or other lean principles.
- Ensure quality is maintained.
- Collaborate with other engineering resources to ensure efficient production.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Knowledge of how mechanical systems and processes work.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellence in verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Required to sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work in a high volume and high stress environment.
- Continuous use of the hand, arm, and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to communicate professionally, in written and oral communications.
Experience Level
- 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment completing Engineering design work.
Education Level
- Associates degree in relevant field with related work experience.
- Bachelors in mechanical or Industrial engineering
