About the Role
We are seeking a Machine Learning Tech Lead to provide technical leadership and ownership for the Payments Intelligence team, managing approximately 4 Machine Learning Engineers. This team focuses on optimizing Cleo's payments systems, including credit collections and subscription retention, directly impacting the company's financial performance. You will collaborate with a cross-functional squad to understand business challenges and apply ML engineering expertise to deploy impactful, best-in-class models.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 4 MLEs
- Deploy machine learning models into production, including classifiers and payments recommendation systems, typically using tabular data
- Collaborate with product managers, backend engineers, and analysts to plan and sequence squad work
- Work closely with engineers to ensure the collection of appropriate data for future machine learning models
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in data science, ML engineering, or related roles
- At least 1 year of management experience, preferably with a small team
- Ability to write production-quality Python code
- Experience deploying machine learning models into production
- Track record in payments, pricing, risk decisioning, or other business process optimization problems
- Comfortable with complexity and developing a holistic system understanding to propose and build solutions
- Strong ability to communicate findings concisely and engagingly to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with credit collections is a plus
