About the Role

This role involves serving as a regulatory professional with extensive technical and regulatory knowledge to analyze and solve complex problems with minimal guidance. You will guide work groups on regulatory matters, provide input for corporate regulatory strategy, and educate others on the interrelationships between cost drivers and revenue.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators, peer utilities, and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth information flow.
Develop testimony, respond to discovery requests, manage audits, and prepare witnesses.
Independently prepare and present complex regulatory subjects and strategies to management and regulatory bodies.
Facilitate the regulatory tasks of others, including testimony development, discovery responses, audit management, and witness preparation.
Promote professionalism and standards within the organizational unit, influencing direction as a recognized authority.
Operate independently in a complex regulatory environment.
Interpret regulatory needs and implement projects and process improvements by establishing measurable goals and objectives.
Address company system-wide issues within a specialized field of expertise.
Review the planned work of others.
Anticipate, identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to unique and specialized problems, sometimes involving inadequate or conflicting data.
Facilitate the development of opportunities, new ideas, and approaches with system-wide impact.
Make complex decisions based on calculated risk and defend those decisions.
Extrapolate beyond known facts to reach logical conclusions.
Participate in and/or lead the use and development of analytical tools for regulatory planning and filings.
Utilize analytical tools and data management skills to provide actionable recommendations.
Consult with others to identify and prioritize actionable recommendations.
Develop and present analysis and solutions supporting strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with IT and others to optimize tool usage and analysis.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND 6 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND 10 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR High School diploma or GED AND 12 years relative field, operations or analytical experience (for Regulatory Consultant Principal).
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND 8 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND 12 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR High School diploma or GED AND 14 years relative field, operations or analytical experience (for Regulatory Consultant Staff).
Master’s degree is preferred.
Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Professional Engineer, Legal degree, or similar Certification/license is preferred.
Proficiency with spreadsheets is required.
Proficient oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategy and provide guidance to management and witnesses on case, are required.
Must possess analytical problem-solving skills.
Required to work mandatory 'on-call' requirements over weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. as necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
Occasional travel will be required for various purposes such as attending or testifying at hearings, supporting witnesses, participating in meetings, advocating company positions, and attending training.
