About the Role

As a Field Service Representative, you will be the on-site representative for Skyways at customer locations, responsible for deploying, maintaining, and repairing aircraft to ensure mission schedules are met. This role requires hands-on problem-solving and customer reliance, often involving travel and independent site management.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy to customer sites as Skyways' on-site representative.
  • Maintain aircraft availability and mission readiness, aiming for a 95%+ readiness rate.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft systems, including power systems, batteries, motors, and ESCs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, RF/datalink, and firmware issues in the field.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to MRO and Engineering with detailed context and drive them to resolution.
  • Meet service commitments by responding quickly to issues and prioritizing aircraft-down situations.
  • Maintain accurate daily logbooks, maintenance history, and configuration records.
  • Set up new sites and manage redeployments, including system installation and functional check flights.
  • Manage on-site spares and Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) response.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering based on field experience to prevent recurring problems.
  • Serve as the customer's trusted point of contact and represent their needs internally.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience maintaining and supporting real aircraft or UAS in the field.
  • Strong mechanical foundation with electrical, RF/datalink, and basic software/firmware troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfort with small internal-combustion or multi-fuel engines.
  • Ability to read and utilize technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Capability to manage a remote site independently, demonstrating safety-mindedness, self-direction, and composure under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 75%, including extended international trips on short notice.
  • Possession of a valid U.S. passport and driver's license.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs and work outdoors in various mission conditions.
  • Discipline in maintaining logbooks and configuration records.
  • Familiarity with support tools such as Slack, Asana, Airtable, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to obtain any customer- or contract-required security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or from a country authorized under applicable export control regulations due to government contract requirements.
