About the Role
This role serves as a specialist analytical and subject-matter expert resource within the Fund Trading, BPO & Debt Services domain, focusing on front-to-back investment services. It involves translating business needs into practical solution designs and directly configuring systems for trade booking, compliance, cash flow forecasting, liquidity, position-keeping, reconciliation, shadow NAV, and valuation.
Responsibilities
- Act as the domain SME and analytical lead for front-to-back investment services capability, including systems and processes.
- Bring deep knowledge of order and trade management workflows, IBOR/ABOR accounting, shadow NAV, and valuation, including complex asset classes.
- Conduct front-end analysis of complex work, including feasibility, operating-model implications, data quality, and readiness, using SQL and AI tooling.
- Own the configuration of investment data systems directly, building and finalizing configuration in test and sandbox environments.
- Collaborate across stakeholder groups to define and document business requirements.
- Work alongside Solution Owners to shape intent and acceptance criteria for complex work.
- Translate between technical limitations and business intent.
- Own the working relationship with technology provider's product and implementation teams.
- Represent this capability at senior governance forums.
- Identify risks such as data gaps, downstream impacts, operational-readiness concerns, and regulatory implications.
- Partner with Integration Quality Engineers on cross-team test scenarios.
- Support adoption readiness, including communications, training, data clean-up, and operational change.
- Build training material and run engagement forums to upskill relevant roles.
- Recognize patterns across the business area to feed roadmap shaping.
- Maintain supporting product documentation, such as system overviews and use cases.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in investment operations, fund administration, or asset-servicing technology, with substantial exposure to trading, order management, position-keeping, or portfolio accounting systems.
- Hands-on configuration experience within investment data or portfolio accounting systems, comfortable working through APIs, configuration tools, and data models directly.
- Strong SQL and database querying skills.
- Working exposure to at least one programming or scripting language (such as Python), used to build and verify configuration directly.
- Strong working knowledge of order and trade management workflows, pre-trade compliance, cash flow forecasting and liquidity management, position-keeping, IBOR/ABOR, reconciliation, and valuation, across standard and complex asset classes.
- Substantial experience gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements, and translating them into clear solution intent and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to model business processes and produce analytical artefacts, such as process models, use cases, procedural guides, and scenarios.
- Strong analytical judgement.
- Credibility with both business and technical stakeholders, with the ability to hold a view under questioning.
- A track record of owning delivery risk on implementations.
- Expert proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Experience delivering front-to-back investment services through a technology-enabled operating model, including configuring or extending the underlying systems yourself.
- Familiarity with industry messaging and data standards such as FIX, SWIFT, or FpML.
- Working knowledge of core accounting mechanics — cost basis, P&L, tax lots, corporate actions, and other instrument lifecycle events.
- Breadth across more than one client operating model, asset class, or technology environment.
- Prior experience owning a technology provider relationship, or acting as an organisation's primary point of contact for a business-critical system.
- Experience creating training material or leading enablement and upskilling initiatives across a wider organisation.
- Experience of platform implementation, configuration, or migration projects.
- Exposure to AI-assisted analysis and discovery tooling.
