About the Role
SSOE is seeking a Junior Process Engineer to support local and remote project teams. This role involves developing PFD’s, P&ID’s, process calculations, and equipment selection from project inception through construction and commissioning, primarily for clients in the chemical industry.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering studies, write reports, and complete engineering calculations.
- Develop PFDs and P&IDs, perform process calculations, and create equipment specifications.
- Support the development of engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering and design teams.
- Support the design and specification of clean-in-place (CIP), general, and clean-out-of-place (CtolOP) sanitation systems.
- Participate in process-layout reviews focusing on sanitary routing, equipment access, cleanability, cross-contamination risk, allergen segregation, utility distribution, drainage, and constructability.
- Review vendor submittals, shop drawings, equipment information, and field installation work for project conformance.
- Assist in the creation of bid packages.
- Perform field work, including site surveys, equipment inspection, and construction/start-up support, with travel up to 30%.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, qualifying for licensure in the state of practice.
- 4+ years of working experience required.
- Exposure to food, beverage GMP plants and other related industrial settings strongly preferred.
- Experience using Pipe Flo or AFT Fathom is a plus.
- Ability to work in a client-facing role while partnering with contractors and vendors.
- Experience with building codes, GMP requirements, and focus on food safe / sanitary design.
- Experience with utility system equipment and distribution systems.
