About the Role

As a Portfolio Manager, Commercial Banking, you will work closely with Relationship Managers and clients to support a portfolio of commercial relationships, providing financial analysis, credit expertise, and ongoing portfolio management. This role is integral to helping businesses grow while maintaining the strong credit quality and customer-focused approach that define Five Star Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Support Relationship Managers and Credit Administration with the maintenance of assigned customer relationships.
  • Assist with gathering financial and business information as dictated by loan documents.
  • Facilitate the preparation of credit underwriting and analysis for existing loans, including reviews, renewals, and modifications.
  • Assess and ensure appropriate risk rating assignment.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of commercial loans and credit facilities to assess portfolio performance and credit quality.
  • Monitor financial covenant compliance and analyze customer-provided reporting.
  • Spread financial statements into bank’s internal models.
  • Provide monthly reports and assistance in monitoring maturing loans and lines of credit.
  • Assist in facilitating closing transactions by reviewing loan documentation.
  • Monitor the appraisal and environmental review process and communicate with RMs.
  • Maintain clean credit files and ensure timely filing of pertinent documents.
  • Track and monitor monthly policy exceptions, resolving collateral and loan review exceptions.
  • Attend client/prospect calls with Relationship Managers as directed.
  • Demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction.
  • Incorporate high performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example, and service in every facet of work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of financial analysis, credit analysis, or prior portfolio management experience in Financial Services.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to clearly convey complex financial and credit information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize banking, credit, and portfolio management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, Relationship Managers, credit partners, and colleagues
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate financial information, identify risks, and exercise sound business judgment
  • Working knowledge of commercial credit principles, lending policies and procedures, financial statement analysis, and basic accounting concepts
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Commitment to providing outstanding service
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout corporate footprint
  • Extensive computer usage is required
