About the Role

The Portfolio Insights team is a core strategic partner to our Insurance and Reinsurance divisions. As a Senior Portfolio Actuary, you will be an integral part of our underwriting teams, architecting long-term portfolio design and managing pricing risks across a diverse, multi-geography product suite in London and the US. You will be integral to the commercial strategy for long-tail lines, collaborating with experts in ceded re, exposure management, actuarial, capital, and innovation to build resilient, future-proof portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with underwriters on the strategic design and management of net portfolios across long-tail, casualty, and financial lines to ensure long-term, sustainable growth.
  • Lead the specification and parameterisation of pricing models in close partnership with the broader Actuarial and Underwriting functions.
  • Act as a dedicated partner to evaluate new lines of business, balancing growth with overarching portfolio strategy.
  • Leverage deep product expertise to shape underwriting priorities, co-owning business outcomes and driving commercial success.
  • Champion the evolution of market-leading tooling, increasing business transparency and confidence in data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • Qualified Actuary with 7+ years of actuarial pricing experience across long-tail or casualty insurance lines in the London market.
  • Strong influencing skills, with an aptitude for anticipating stakeholder needs and providing support.
  • Understand underwriters’ priorities and how to add value.
  • Thoughtful and effective communicator with a diverse audience both face-to-face and in writing.
  • Strong insights on modern tooling and how it can be leveraged for the benefit of underwriting and portfolio analysis.
  • Collaborative nature, with the ability to share workload and foster open communication with peers.
  • Humility to recognise other people’s strengths and how they complement your skill set.
