About the Role
The Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in a tertiary care setting with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities. This role involves developing holistic treatment programs and collaborating with other health disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients.
- Develops holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques.
- Communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment, and patient management.
- Provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students.
- Supervises physiotherapy assistants and aides.
- Collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives.
- Participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness.
- Solves problems and shares responsibilities within the clinical team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or entry-level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
- Membership with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy.
- Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook).
- Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
- WHMIS training and certification.
- Additional courses/education/training in specialized areas (e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training) are preferred.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred.
