About the Role

The Policy Analyst – Geoeconomics & Digital Assets will conduct research and analysis to support TBI’s work on the transformation of the global financial system, driven by digital assets, stablecoins, tokenisation, programmable money, and emerging financial infrastructure. This role involves examining the implications of these developments for governments, national resilience, economic competitiveness, and strategic influence.

Responsibilities

Conduct high-quality qualitative and quantitative research on geoeconomics and digital assets.
Contribute to TBI research and policy development on areas including digital assets, stablecoins, tokenisation, CBDCs, sovereign digital financial infrastructure and financial-market infrastructure.
Analyse how emerging financial technologies are affecting international finance, monetary sovereignty, economic competitiveness and geopolitical influence.
Research wider developments in geoeconomics and economic statecraft and assess their implications for governments.
Support the development of practical, evidence-based policy recommendations.
Monitor relevant political, economic, regulatory and technological developments and identify emerging issues requiring further analysis.
Contribute to policy papers, reports, briefing notes, presentations, blogs and other written products.
Support the preparation of briefings and analytical materials for political leaders, policymakers and senior government officials.
Contribute research and analysis to government-facing policy work on digital finance and sovereign digital financial infrastructure.
Help translate complex financial, technological and geopolitical issues into clear and accessible recommendations for policymakers.
Support colleagues in responding to policy and advisory requests from across TBI.
Support engagement with governments, regulators, central banks, international organisations, academics, think tanks and industry experts.
Develop and maintain a network of relevant external experts and organisations.
Use external expertise and evidence to test and strengthen TBI’s analysis and policy recommendations.
Support roundtables, expert discussions, seminars and other policy convenings.
Under supervision, represent TBI in relevant external discussions and events.
Contribute to research and analysis that strengthen TBI’s voice on geoeconomics and digital finance.
Help develop accessible policy content for external audiences.
Support the preparation of presentations, opinion pieces, policy commentary and other communications.
Package research and recommendations clearly for different political and policy audiences.
Manage defined research tasks and analytical workstreams to agreed timelines and quality standards.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across TBI’s policy, technology, strategy and advisory teams.
Provide regular updates on research, deliverables and timelines.
Contribute to team discussions, workshops and project development.
Perform other duties and assignments as reasonably requested, supporting the successful delivery of TBI’s strategic objectives and operational priorities.
Provide support and cover for colleagues during periods of leave, absence or peak workload, ensuring effective delivery of team and organisational objectives.

Requirements

Has a master’s degree in a relevant field, or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus approximately 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.
Has a strong interest in geoeconomics, international political economy, financial innovation, digital assets and public policy.
Possesses excellent analytical and research skills and can independently undertake qualitative and/or quantitative analysis.
Has excellent writing skills and can produce clear, concise and high-quality briefings, reports and other policy products at pace.
Can understand complex economic, financial, technological or geopolitical issues and communicate their implications clearly to non-specialist audiences.
Demonstrates sound judgement and intellectual curiosity when assessing emerging or rapidly evolving policy questions.
Has the ability to work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Is interested in current political, economic, and policy debates internationally.
Works collaboratively and is comfortable engaging with colleagues and external stakeholders from different professional backgrounds.
Has an existing right to work in the United Kingdom.
