About the Role

The Director (or Senior Director) of Retail will be responsible for all aspects of running profitable store locations within Japan. This role sets the commercial business plan for Tommy Hilfiger Brands for full-price retail business and leads all Tommy Hilfiger retail stores in defining the culture and operations to ensure success in customer service, profitability, operations, associate development, merchandise presentation, and assortment.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up business plans for Tommy Hilfiger full-price retail (revenue, inventory, staffing, SG&A, EBIT) for the retail store portfolio, tracking performance, and taking actions to achieve objectives.
  • Reviewing and analyzing monthly budgets/forecasts, LTF, and industry status.
  • Monthly/Annual sales closing and analyzing revenue data, discount rate, and gross margin %.
  • Monitoring sales plan achievement and progress, identifying issues, and planning to maximize sales.
  • Effective control of selling fixed costs, trade marketing expenses, travel & entertainment.
  • Translating information and consumer insights to identify market opportunities and brand strategies.
  • Managing the strategic retail portfolio plan (new store, renovations, relocations) for maximum profitability and cost-effective execution.
  • Supporting and executing marketing/CRM strategies and campaigns to drive conversion and customer loyalty.
  • Ensuring all stores project the brand image and adhere to company direction in visual presentation and standards.
  • Partnering with Planning on sales and margin plans by merchandise department and aligning with Merchandising, Planning & Allocation, and VM on allocation and store set dates.
  • Collaborating with Finance & Planning on accurate sales and inventory reporting, monitoring over- and under-stocks, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensuring all stores comply with store operations procedures and customer service standards.
  • Managing and supporting store manpower recruitment efforts for proper staffing levels and suitable caliber of sales staff.
  • Overseeing staff supervision and motivation to optimize sales force effectiveness and productivity.
  • Partnering with Human Resources on retail staff recruitment, training, compensation and benefits, and other HR aspects.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Retail Operations management team to achieve KPIs, ensure operational standards, and high staff engagement.
  • Ensuring performance management, associate development, and succession planning are built into quarterly and annual plans for all people managers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of management experience in the retail industry.
  • Ability to travel.

  • Decision-Making: Makes good decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; knowledgeable in current and future policies, practices, trends and information related to Finance and propose to VP Retail as final alignment especially in case of huge business impact.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills and ability to digest multiple variables while making timely decisions.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Looks to broadest possible view of an issue or challenge; uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective tactics.
