About the Role
Join the Business Development team at Charles River Development (CRD) to manage existing partners and drive the creation of new partnerships that enhance the CRD platform, address customer feedback, and generate revenue.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Business Development Lifecycle for new partnerships.
- Work with prospective FIX Counterparts to expand liquidity options and price discovery for CRD Clients.
- Interface with R&D, Product Strategy, and Sales to identify functional areas for new partnerships.
- Collaborate with Product Management to evaluate potential partners' functionality, integration capabilities, and pricing.
- Drive commercial negotiations to establish basic partnership terms.
- Work with Legal and Procurement teams to create partnership contracts.
- Establish a Go-To-Market plan with Sales Enablement and Marketing post-partnership execution.
- Manage a portfolio of existing partners.
- Maintain strategic relationships with top producing brokers.
- Build relationships with Sell Sides on the Charles River FIX Network globally.
- Handle monthly reporting, billing, risk inquiries, contract renewals, amendments, and assignments.
- Solve problems within existing partnerships and collaborate to drive mutual revenue.
- Become knowledgeable of partner offerings and commercial aspects.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and collaborate with partners.
- Support Product Management in delivering their road map.
- Identify and execute strategic partnerships to add value to the CRD ecosystem.
- Conduct new market assessment and sizing.
- Perform competitive analysis.
- Assess vendor risk.
- Generate ad hoc reports.
- Drive strategic industry analysis and competitive intelligence.
- Drive positioning and content for products and solutions.
- Analyze product profitability and sales success with the finance team.
- Validate new market opportunities for products and solutions.
- Assess client interest in new relationships and monitor feedback on existing partnerships.
- Maintain prioritized requests from sales and clients.
- Assist Sales/Client Management in client discussions.
- Serve as an escalation point for the FIX Network Ops team.
Requirements
- Must have a strong understanding of Electronic Trading workflows (business and technical) across all asset classes, including Trader workflows, Connectivity details, and FIX protocol.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to 'roll up sleeves', solve problems, and climb learning curves.
- Project management skills.
- Excellent follow-through, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Familiarity with the vendor ecosystem in buy-side technology used by institutional asset managers, asset owners, hedge funds, etc.
- Experience in commercial software, including initial business vetting and final partnership rollout.
- Specific knowledge of the investment industry (financial instruments, workflows, major players, macro-economic influences, trends, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals at all levels.
- Excellent executive communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Active contributor with high motivation, ability to take initiative, set priorities, and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Global business development experience preferred, including formulating partnerships and reviewing contracts.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience.
