About the Role
North Wind is advancing hypersonic technologies through cutting-edge research, system development, and flight testing. We drive innovation in high-speed aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and mission-critical components, supporting every phase of hypersonic programs from R&D to flight testing.
Responsibilities
- Supervises a small team of engineers, providing mentorship, reviewing output, and driving design tasks to closure.
- Manages engineering related budgets and schedules and tracks team performance.
- Performs CAD modeling, stress calculations, mechanical design, instrumentation packaging, material research, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Supports customer interface meetings, internal project status meetings, and tracks engineering schedule and budget performance.
- Generates project bill of materials, resource requests, engineering reports, design review presentations, assembly & instrumentation instructions, and interface control documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with 10+ years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work on multiple projects, and prioritize workload.
- General familiarity with aerospace research and development test products.
- US citizenship required to obtain/maintain a DOD security clearance.
Skills
- Design and analysis of gas turbine, ramjet and scramjet engines and/or liquid propellant rockets.
- Engineering CAD codes (SOLIDWORKS and/or NX).
- Engineering thermal and structural analysis codes (ANSYS).
- Computational fluid dynamic techniques.
- Aerospace test device instrumentation sensors.
- Detailed drawing, checking, GD&T and tolerance stacks.
