About the Role
We are looking for an iOS Engineer to join our Apps Experience team. You will build and maintain features, taking ownership of the delivery of appropriately scoped work from design through to release with team support. You'll be building and testing major new features, improving and maintaining existing functionality, and contributing to product and technical decisions. You will also review code, contribute to technical discussions, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Building and testing major new features
- Improving and maintaining existing functionality
- Working with legacy code in Objective-C
- Pair programming with other developers
- Working closely with designers, editorial and commercial colleagues
- Involvement in product decisions as well as technical ones
- Reviewing the code of other engineers
- Contributing to technical discussions
- Helping evolve our architecture and engineering practices
- Collaborating closely with product managers, designers and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality user experiences
- Striving to be innovative on a daily basis, as well as at regular hack days
Requirements
- Experience developing iOS applications in Swift
- Good understanding of modern iOS development using SwiftUI and UIKit and Apple's core frameworks
- Ability to independently deliver well-scoped features
- Producing high-quality, maintainable code
- Taking responsibility for work from development through to release
- Understanding of software design principles
- Willingness to contribute to architectural discussions
- Learning from and collaborating with more experienced engineers on complex technical challenges
- Collaborative approach to working with product managers, designers and fellow engineers
- Communicating effectively
- Contributing positively to the team's success
- Curiosity and a desire to continually develop technical skills
- Improving the developer experience
- Contributing ideas that enhance products and ways of working
