About the Role

AECOM is seeking graduates to join their Town Planning Team, offering opportunities for career progression and development within a supportive culture. Graduates will support a variety of projects, engage with clients and stakeholders, and gain experience in plan making, development management, and infrastructure projects. The role includes comprehensive training and support towards professional qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical inputs to land use planning projects within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support the preparation of planning consent applications for various schemes.
  • Write planning statements or policy appraisals and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Carry out planning research and analysis, and assist with identifying planning risks.
  • Support business development opportunities and contribute to proposals.
  • Represent the organization and manage relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the successful operation and management of the Planning team, sharing technical knowledge.
  • Assist the management team as required.

Requirements

  • A graduate with a degree or postgraduate qualification in Town or Urban Planning or a related discipline.
  • Hard working and highly motivated individual with excellent communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Understanding of UK Planning policy and legislation.
  • Interest in all aspects of Planning.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Client-focused with good interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
  • High level of commitment to quality.
  • Willingness to learn and embrace digital technologies.
  • Full current driving licence is preferred (although not essential) and access to transport.
  • Ideally, planning work experience beyond academic study.
  • Must have permanent right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered.
  • Required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding.
