About the Role
The Technical Director will be the senior technical authority for key projects at our Vyner studio, ensuring success in delivering products and services to our clients. This is a central technological position within the tech team and the business, involving hands-on, client-facing work and leading projects from start to finish. You will lead all project technical production, advocate modern agentic SDLC workflows, and manage client technical relationships.
Responsibilities
- Plan, own, and oversee technical project architectures, implementations, and deployments.
- Monitor technical budgets and enforce deadlines with project Producers.
- Review project outputs regularly and ensure quality control.
- Align with clients' technical departments on needs, capabilities, and governance.
- Resolve client technical concerns and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
- Assess briefs with leadership and present technology and processes in client pitch scenarios.
- Support the quoting process by estimating skill specialisms, time, and effort required.
- Formulate short- and long-term project strategies.
- Approve technical standards and identify/mitigate project risks.
- Oversee and liaise with external subcontractors and technical partners.
- Provide line management for a developer cohort, lead performance reviews, and support professional development.
Requirements
- 10+ years minimum experience in a technical lead or director capacity.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering 3D applications and Gaussian splatting.
- Thorough understanding of 3D Realtime core concepts and AI development best practices.
- Thorough knowledge of end-to-end software development lifecycles from design to deployment.
- Specialist knowledge in web technologies, Unity, AR/VR/interactive software, and mobile platforms (iOS and Android).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly translate complex tech to non-technical team members and clients.
- Previous experience in the architectural, planning, or civil engineering industries (Desirable).
- Experience with BIM pipelines and handling architecture/engineering data (Desirable).
- Experience with enterprise-scale software architecture (Desirable).
- An eye for good UX and design (Desirable).
- Pre-existing work authorization in the location of the role.
