About the Role
Manage and develop existing and new products/services, owning customer and colleague journeys. Develop product strategy, drive change, and make key decisions throughout the product lifecycle to achieve positive outcomes for customers, colleagues, and the bank, ensuring compliance with SLAs, regulations, and risk management controls. As a Barclays Senior Strategy and Planning Manager, you will lead high-impact strategic projects shaping the future direction of Business Banking Product. You will combine market insight, commercial analysis, and internal performance data to identify opportunities and risks, evaluate strategic choices, and provide independent, balanced advice and clear recommendations to senior decision-makers. Your work will contribute to the development and evolution of Business Banking's overall strategy, supporting sustainable growth, strong client outcomes, and long-term shareholder value.
Responsibilities
- Develop customer-level strategies and solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the applicable Product/Proposition team, guiding stakeholders on product/proposition application and related journeys.
- Develop product propositions and/or service strategy, defining priorities for strategy execution.
- Develop commercial and business models by understanding the financial drivers of the P&L.
- Evaluate the technical feasibility, legal compliance, and potential risks of new product development and launch.
- Monitor market trends and analyze feedback from internal employees and customers through prototypes, user testing, and beta programs to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage comprehensive launch plans and technical deployments, establishing rollout timelines, marketing strategies, training initiatives, and communication channels.
- Monitor key metrics such as adoption rates, usage patterns, customer satisfaction, and revenue generation to assess product performance.
- Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
- Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches.
- If managing a team: define jobs and responsibilities, plan for future needs and operations, counsel employees on performance, and contribute to pay decisions.
- If leading specialists: influence department operations in alignment with strategic and tactical priorities, balancing short and long-term goals, and ensuring budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
- If a People Leader: demonstrate leadership behaviors to create an environment for colleagues to thrive.
- If an individual contributor: act as a subject matter expert, guide technical direction, lead collaborative assignments, guide team members, identify needs for other specializations, and train/guide/coach less experienced specialists.
- Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organization's functions to contribute to business goals.

Requirements
- Degree qualified (or equivalent professional experience) with significant experience in strategy, strategic planning, business transformation, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of banking or financial services.
- Experience developing strategic propositions, products, services, customer journeys, or distribution solutions, including digital channels.
- Proven ability to shape business strategy and translate it into execution, including developing business cases, evaluating strategic trade-offs, and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Highly commercial and analytical mindset.
- Ability to interpret financial, market, and operational data.
- Ability to solve complex, ambiguous business challenges through structured thinking.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Credibility to influence, challenge, and build consensus at Executive and Board level.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience gained within a management consulting, strategy consulting, or in-house corporate strategy environment is desirable.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders on Board, regulatory, investor, or executive-facing activities, ideally within large-scale transformation programmes in a complex, regulated organisation is desirable.
