About the Role
Change Grow Live (CGL) is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and outcome-focused Criminal Justice Recovery Worker to join their Criminal Justice team on a Sessional basis. The role involves supporting individuals with substance use needs, many of whom face additional challenges. The worker will manage a caseload and provide outreach and in-reach support in various community settings.
Responsibilities
- Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
- Providing screening, assessment, recovery planning, and onward referral
- Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
- Promoting carer, service user, and community involvement
- Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
- Working with service users to support social (re)integration, promoting recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination
- Researching, designing, and preparing subject matter and materials for groups/pods
- Delivering structured content within group settings to service users at various stages of recovery
- Engaging with debriefing and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups/pods
- Tailoring specific workshops around the needs of service users (e.g., anger management, sleep disorders, relationships)
Requirements
- Strong understanding of substance misuse issues
- Experience of working within a similar field
- Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good IT skills
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative
- Excellent time management and prioritizing skills
- Good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
- Supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and stakeholders
- Ability to manage change successfully, prioritizing service user needs
- Understanding of information governance processes and commitment to apply safeguards
- Willingness to seek out learning opportunities and contribute to the learning and development of others
- Must have the right to work in the UK
- Role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
