About the Role
ING is seeking a Medior/Senior Java Engineer to join the Infrastructure Department. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for creating the Next-Generation Messaging Platform for ING, which includes DataPlane (Apache Pulsar clusters) and ControlPlane (administrative unit). The team aims to be the backbone of ING's APIs and services, replacing current messaging infrastructure and offering opportunities to shape features for core businesses.
Responsibilities
- Full Software Lifecycle development of the Platform’s Control Plane
- Participate in architectural meetings, designing consumer flows, and ensuring platform meets ING Security and Resiliency requirements
- Build new libraries
- Build and maintain Azure pipelines for complete automation of the software lifecycle
- Assist with the DataPlane, utilizing Ansible, Jinja templates, and Azure pipelines
- Perform Standby duties with the team (1 week per month)
- Contribute to the open-source Pulsar project
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Java, Spring Boot applications, and Test Driven Development
- Polyglot at heart
- Solid understanding of Event Driven Design, Cloud Native architecture (e.g., sidecar-pattern), Infrastructure as Code, Microservices, Moduliths
- Understanding of Security Concepts like OAuth, JWT Token, MTLS
- Experience with Tibco EMS, IBM MQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Pulsar, with a solid understanding of Messaging Concepts
- Good knowledge of Azure Pipelines
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana
- Experience in SQL Databases (SQL, SQL plus, Postgres)
- Experience working with Kubernetes (OpenShift)
- Knowledge of Ansible and Helm or willingness to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with testing tools (such as JUnit)
- Experience with handling large VM estates
- Experience with Risk Processes like ITRMP, OSG, DRA
- Experience with Open Policy Agent
