About the Role
As Associate Counsel, you will provide expert counsel in commercial law, licensing, and intellectual property. This includes reviewing, negotiating, and managing various agreements and transactions, as well as advising on day-to-day legal issues for assigned business units.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on various commercial agreements, such as technology, marketing, sales, procurement and other commercial agreements.
- Support and provide advice on Intellectual Property matters.
- Monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company; recommend and implement policies and procedures for compliance.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate, Called to a law society in Canada
- 2 to 4 years experience in a law firm or in-house
- Drafting, review and negotiation of a broad range of technology and commercial agreements (with a focus on agreements in distribution, licensing, marketing, procurement and similar areas).
- Knowledge of and experience with privacy and data security laws would be considered a strong asset.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with technology, commercial law, and intellectual property rights related to a children’s entertainment company.
