About the Role
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a motivated Design Manager to join their London or Epsom Office. This role is responsible for the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects from concept through to construction, contributing to a top 10 AJ 100 studio with a global design network.
Responsibilities
- Successfully deliver projects to agreed targets, including program, budget, and quality.
- Identify and agree project objectives with the Design Director and develop strategies for achievement.
- Identify, escalate, and manage potential contractual/commercial risks to AtkinsRéalis.
- Lead, motivate, maintain, coach, guide, and develop the project team, providing regular feedback.
- Prioritize safety throughout project delivery.
- Facilitate communication, coordination, and information flow with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and partners.
- Assemble and own the project delivery program and delivery plans.
- Close out projects upon completion, update market information, capture and disseminate lessons learned, and initiate client satisfaction surveys.
Requirements
- Chartered Engineer/Architect or equivalent with experience managing design commissions on large infrastructure projects.
- Experience across a range of construction projects.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to manage and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities.
- Understanding and experience in deploying various forms of construction contracts, particularly NEC3/NEC4.
- Experienced in preparing Scope Definition papers, Project Execution Plans, Risk Registers, Change Control Logs, and Client & Stakeholder Management plans.
- Experience managing design projects to time, cost, and quality objectives.
- Familiar with programming and earned value techniques.
- Familiar with BIM and understanding of 3D modeling tools for design and coordination.
- Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
- Role may require security clearance; offers of employment are dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
- Vetting process delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) may require proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer.
