About the Role
As a Fiber Splicer at MasTec Communications Group, you will develop new skills in a safety-minded environment, contributing to the expansion of technology for a better community. Join the MasTec family to provide high-quality service while maintaining a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
- Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
- Operate all testing equipment and resolve common fiber optic network challenges.
- Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures (e.g., Tyco, CommScope, Corning).
- Utilize fusion splicer and test equipment including OTDR (1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM), 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and Power meter.
- Apply knowledge of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
- Work in outdoor utility construction sites.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a safety-first mindset in daily work.
- Exhibit a track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
- Possess a knack for problem-solving with a hands-on approach.
- Seek long-term projects.
- Enjoy collaborative teamwork.
- Have 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
- Comfortable working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
- Flexible with a variety of shifts and overtime.
