About the Role

Provide specialist governance and compliance support to maintain IAG’s Safety & Wellbeing management system, monitor legislative and policy obligations, coordinate assurance and reporting, and support consistent, evidence-based oversight of safety and wellbeing risks across Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities

Support governance escalation processes and provide specialist interpretation of Safety & Wellbeing obligations, controls and governance requirements.
Support the coordination, preparation and continuous improvement of executive, Board and regulatory reporting, ensuring reporting provides clear insight into risk exposure, control effectiveness, assurance outcomes and management action.
Analyse and synthesise risk, compliance, assurance and performance information into concise, evidence-based insights for executives, Boards and governance forums.
Support governance of officer due diligence obligations, entity-specific accountabilities and Board reporting requirements across a multi-entity operating environment.
Lead the planning and coordination of assurance activities, audits and compliance reviews to assess control effectiveness and compliance with Safety & Wellbeing obligations.
Maintain the Safety & Wellbeing governance framework, management system, policies, standards, procedures and supporting controls.
Monitor Australian and New Zealand legislative, regulatory and standards developments; assess implications and coordinate required governance changes.
Maintain compliance obligations, control, assurance and action registers, including clear ownership, evidence and closure requirements.
Coordinate governance forums, annual planning, regulatory reporting and executive or Board reporting requirements.
Analyse performance, risk, incident, audit and assurance data to identify trends, control gaps and emerging issues.
Maintain document controls, review cycles, approval pathways and records to support audit readiness.
Coordinate responses to regulators, internal audit, Risk, Legal and external assurance providers when required.
Provide specialist interpretation and guidance to business partners and leaders, escalating material compliance issues where required.
Support continuous improvement of governance processes, systems, reporting and data quality.
Deliver priorities under the annual Safety & Wellbeing governance and compliance plan.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in governance, compliance, risk, assurance, regulation or Work Health & Safety within a complex corporate environment.
Practical experience maintaining management systems, governance frameworks, policies and controls.
Experience interpreting legislation and translating obligations into business requirements.
Audit, assurance, compliance monitoring and action-tracking experience.
Demonstrated ability to prepare concise, evidence-based papers, reports and briefings for senior executives, committees or Boards.
Strong document governance, records management and attention to detail.
Strong analytical capability, including interpretation of risk, compliance, assurance and performance data to generate meaningful governance insights and management action.
Experience coordinating regulatory responses and working with Legal, Risk and Audit within a regulated, multi-entity environment with executive, Board or regulatory reporting responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to liaise, advise and negotiate effectively with key stakeholders including management, Legal, Risk, Audit, regulators, executives and external assurance providers on safety issues.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulatory obligations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong time management, project management and prioritisation skills.
