About the Role

We are a small team designing premium consumer technology, including recent work on the Mate XT triple-foldable, Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design, and high-end watches. We are seeking a designer to help shape future products.

Responsibilities

Define the shape, aesthetics, and materiality of existing product categories (phones, wearables, earbuds).
Design products considering technology, segment, and launch date.
Shape the future of new tech devices by understanding cultural and psychological attitudes and trends.
Work closely with engineers on emerging technologies.
Fuse insights into new products and product categories.
Develop products that are made in millions yet feel like individual objects, focusing on proportion, surface, color, and finish.
Collaborate within the team through workshops, sharing references, and developing ideas together.
Lead individual projects from research through to detailed models.
Present proposals for selection and development.
Travel to China to meet the team, observe manufacturing processes, and validate mockups.
Build a real understanding of Asian culture.

Requirements

Creative with a genuine curiosity about the world and how things are made.
Follow intuition and be passionate about design and technology.
Background in consumer electronics, accessories, footwear, furniture, or automotive is relevant.
Ability to develop own designs in 3D.
Must be UK-based with the right to work in the UK.
Able to commute to the London studio.
Send a portfolio showcasing strongest ideas, visual judgment, and reasoning.
Clearly state contributions on collaborative projects.
Applications must include a PDF portfolio.
