About the Role

Slack is seeking a Field CTO to act as a technical and strategic advisor within the CRO's office, representing Slack's product vision, technical architecture, and business value to key customers, prospects, and partners. This role requires a blend of deep technical credibility, sales acumen, and product fluency to engage in executive-level discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor and executive-level proxy in customer and prospect conversations.
  • Translate Slack's platform roadmap and architecture into business outcomes for technical decision-makers.
  • Partner with sales leadership on strategic deals, shaping technical win strategies and addressing objections.
  • Serve as a feedback loop between the field and product/engineering teams.
  • Represent Slack at industry events, executive forums, and analyst briefings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customer executive sponsors.
  • Mentor and upskill account teams and sales engineers on technical storytelling.
  • Partner with product marketing and product management on positioning and narrative development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technical pre-sales/solutions engineering, product management, or technical customer success, ideally in enterprise SaaS/collaboration software.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate credibly in both technical and commercial conversations.
  • Executive presence and comfort presenting to C-suite audiences.
  • Strong product instincts and ability to translate customer pain into product requirements.
  • A track record of influencing complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
