About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with strong strategic technology leadership and a particular focus on AI and emerging technologies. This role will play a critical part in bridging business strategy with effective technical delivery, shaping and governing the enterprise-wide technology architecture across our business units. You will be responsible for defining and evolving technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment across systems and platforms, and establishing clear architectural principles and standards. A key aspect of the role will be to evaluate, guide, and govern the adoption of AI technologies, including data, analytics, and automation capabilities, ensuring they are applied responsibly, securely, and at scale. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will provide architectural governance across BUK, as well as technical guidance to Needs Labs, helping to translate innovation into production-ready solutions. All solutions must align to BUK architecture standards and strategy, with a strong focus on scalability, security, compliance, ethical AI, and cost optimisation. Responsibilities
- Develop, evolve, and implement the bank's technology architecture and strategies aligned to business and technology objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including Enterprise Architecture teams and other developers, to provide subject matter expertise and share knowledge.
- Understand and deliver on client technical needs.
- Motivate and lead diverse teams of technologists, business and operations professionals, and enterprise leaders to align business and technology strategy and standards.
- Identify opportunities and connect people.
- Assess new technologies to address current and future business needs.
- Determine optimal solutions while balancing compliance, governance, security, and funding requirements.
- Monitor and analyze application performance, resiliency, and stability to identify and resolve issues.
- Communicate and document key findings to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards and identify industry developments impacting the bank's operations and controls.
- Support engineering and architecture community initiatives to mentor team members, streamline operations, and share knowledge.
- Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
- Plan resources, budgets, and policies.
- Manage and maintain policies and processes.
- Deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.
- Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organization's functions to contribute to achieving business goals.
- Collaborate with other areas of work and business-aligned support areas to stay updated on business activity and strategies.
