About the Role
Cogent is seeking a Founding IT Engineer to establish and manage the company's IT function. This role involves setting up systems, automation, and processes to support a growing team across multiple locations and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Manage and secure endpoints, including device provisioning, MDM configuration, patching, and inventory tracking.
- Own corporate identity and access management, including SSO, MFA, role-based permissions, and automated provisioning/deprovisioning.
- Run vendor management for the SaaS stack, covering license provisioning, renewals, and cost tracking.
- Manage physical IT infrastructure in SF and NYC offices, including network switches, routers, and access control systems.
- Handle end-user support and ticketing, with on-call availability for urgent issues.
- Build automation using Python, workflow platforms (n8n, Zapier), and AI tools to scale operations and reduce repetitive tasks.
- Define guardrails for AI tool usage and create documentation and workflows for secure self-service of IT needs.
Requirements
- Experience founding or building an IT function from scratch at a fast-moving company.
- Security-first mindset developed in a high-security environment (fintech, enterprise SaaS, or similar).
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Python or a similar language.
- Proficiency in using AI tools for scripting, workflow building, and automation.
- Project management skills for prioritization and process optimization.
- Hands-on approach to building, supporting, and responding to IT needs.
- Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and supporting audits (Nice to Have).
- Security domain expertise, particularly in vulnerability management (Nice to Have).
- Experience with Windows environment administration at scale (Nice to Have).
