About the Role
Manta Cares is seeking a senior product leader to own the product roadmap, prioritization, and shipping cycles. This role reports directly to the CEO and will initially be an individual contributor, with the potential to manage a team over time. The ideal candidate will have strong product ownership skills, clinical or healthcare domain experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams to improve the lives of cancer patients.
Responsibilities
- Own the product function end to end: roadmap, backlog, prioritization, and build/test cycles.
- Develop and own a clear product strategy aligned with Manta Cares strategy and goals.
- Maintain a prioritized product roadmap and make decisions on what gets built.
- Engage with the clinical map and care pathways, working with the Chief Medical Officer to translate clinical content into product.
- Be credible with senior engineers, diagnose velocity, and provide technical pushback when necessary.
- Translate desirability into clear UX decisions and maintain a strong sense of the patient experience.
- Translate commercial requests from partners into shippable product.
- Utilize AI in daily practice.
- Instrument product features, run experiments, and use data to drive decisions.
- Own outcomes rather than output.
Requirements
- 6+ years of product ownership experience, including setting roadmaps, managing backlogs, sequencing, and shipping products.
- Experience in the clinical, scientific, or healthcare domain.
- Credibility with strong engineers, ability to diagnose velocity, and technical pushback skills.
- Seniority and judgment, with strong opinions that are loosely held.
- User-centered product sense and design literacy.
- Ability to translate commercial requests into product.
- Data-driven approach and ability to reason from first principles.
- Comfortable moving fast and navigating ambiguity at an early-stage company.
- Ability to hold your own with strong engineers.
- Genuine willingness to go deep on clinical content.
- Ability to disagree, bring evidence, and commit once a decision is made.
- Ability to absorb speed and directness with high emotional intelligence.
- Low ego and high ownership.
- Decisiveness in ambiguous situations.
- Bias towards building and shipping, not adding process and ceremony.
- Ability to build trust quickly and collaborate effectively.
- Experience as a clinician or MD who moved into product is a plus.
- Consumer-mobile depth is a plus.
- Founder or operator experience is a plus.
- Personal connection to the cancer space is a plus.
- Lifecycle product experience, including activation and retention, is a plus.
- Not a designer, engineer, or CTO.
- Experience with prioritization and shipping in a product owner capacity.
- Ability to engage clinical depth without needing everything explained.
- Willingness to remain hands-on.
- Ability to make decisions without waiting for a roadmap or CEO sign-off.
- Ability to handle pressure and avoid ego battles.
- Ability to tighten the loop and ship, rather than adding ceremony.
