About the Role

Testing Technicians are responsible for technical, clerical, and administrative duties in exam administration. This role involves administering written and performance tests, maintaining test security, and assisting with scoring and reporting. Responsibilities

  • Administers written and performance tests in traditional or computerized testing environments.
  • Prepares test materials and arranges facilities prior to exams.
  • Distributes test materials and provides instructions for administering tests.
  • Answers general questions regarding tests.
  • Maintains security of test materials before, during, and after the exam.
  • Prevents candidates from taking test materials.
  • Gathers and accounts for all test materials after the exam.
  • Directs proctors in securing test materials and environment.
  • Checks and packages examination materials, ensuring they are returned to designated areas.
  • Requests and inspects identification cards to admit authorized persons.
  • Directs and seats candidates in proper places.
  • Monitors the examination area to ensure candidates follow instructions.
  • Provides necessary pencils/tools to candidates.
  • Prevents cheating by candidates or use of unauthorized references.
  • Instructs proctors in their assignments.
  • Maintains order in the exam room.
  • Keeps track of time during examinations.
  • Reports and documents unusual incidents during examinations.
  • Performs scoring and prepares score sheets for scanning.
  • Enters information into the computerized database.
  • Assists in the training, monitoring, and evaluation of proctors.
  • Responds to inquiries from various individuals.
  • Performs clerical functions to assist in preparing, administering, and scoring examinations.
  • Prepares eligible lists and notifies candidates of exam processes and results.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of verifiable clerical experience; OR
  • One year of verifiable customer service experience; OR
  • 30 semester units of coursework from an accredited college or university; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training, experience or education.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computers, scanners, projectors, digital recorders, MP3 players, etc.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with a large and diverse group of people.
  • Ability to speak in front of a large group of people (up to 250).
