About the Role
Design Group is leading the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) scope for AI-driven data centers in the Abilene and Haskell, TX area. The role involves engineering, procurement, system integration, on-site checkout, and commissioning of I&C elements for critical infrastructure, including chillers, air handling units, fan coil arrays, power distribution centers, transformers, UPS systems, and feeder protection. The EPMS scope also includes system visualization, monitoring, alarming, and integration of critical electrical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the successful deployment of multiple greenfield data centers, including both BMS and EPMS scopes.
- Receive applications from the design team and deploy them to each site.
- Perform Point to Point checkout of thousands of devices.
- Configure communication protocols for multiple types of equipment, including switchgear and breakers.
- Configure and calibrate instruments such as meters, VFDs, and flow meters.
- Deploy and commission Ignition applications.
- Provide guidance and leadership to Design Group subcontractors (electricians) onsite.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience starting up control systems with significant onsite time.
- Ability to spend significant time onsite (75%).
- Must be open to travel 100% or open to relocate close to site (relocation assistance offered).
- Strong communicator with the ability and desire to work within large teams.
- Experience with BMS and EPMS commissioning is highly preferred.
