About the Role
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, support the delivery of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, developing clinical skills in medication management and pharmaceutical care planning. Develop skills in patient counselling, medication education, and drug information provision. Gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing with quality and safety controls. Participate in pharmacy practice research, including a specific project. Work collaboratively within the pharmacy team, participate in weekend rosters, and undertake other duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services
- Develop clinical skills in medication management and pharmaceutical care planning
- Develop skills in patient counselling, medication education and the provision of drug information
- Gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including preparation of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals and applying relevant quality and safety controls
- Participate in pharmacy practice research, including undertaking a specific research project
- Work collaboratively within the pharmacy team
- Participate in weekend rosters
- Undertake other duties as required by the Director of Pharmacy or Deputy Director of Pharmacy
Requirements
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Degree
- Eligible for provisional registration with AHPRA
- Eligible to enrol in an approved Intern Training Program prior to commencement

- Sound knowledge of pharmacology and the ability to apply this knowledge in practical clinical situations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively counsel patients and carers
- Ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals at all levels
- Understanding of the role of a Hospital Pharmacist, including professional, ethical and legal responsibilities
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, continuing education, quality improvement and research
- A proactive and adaptable team player with demonstrated initiative
- Strong problem-solving, time management and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and contribute effectively within a busy team environment
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australia visa that grants the necessary work rights
