About the Role

Molecular Sound is seeking an experienced Head of Production for a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This senior, hands-on role involves managing production across the business, nurturing client relationships, and ensuring the smooth operation of a busy creative studio.

Responsibilities

Manage incoming briefs and client inquiries.
Handle quoting, budgeting, and project finances.
Schedule in-house composer team and freelance creatives.
Oversee production timelines, priorities, and deadlines for multiple projects.
Serve as a senior client contact throughout projects.
Organize recording sessions, studios, musicians, and suppliers.
Manage feedback, amends, and final deliverables.
Advise on music licensing, usage, and rights.
Manage suppliers and the freelance creative network.
Oversee purchase orders, invoicing, and project profitability.
Support new business opportunities and pitches.
Manage and support the three-person composer team.
Lead internal resourcing and production meetings.
Take ownership of key accounts and major projects.
Inform senior leadership on pipeline, resourcing, commercial performance, and risks.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in a senior production role (e.g., Senior Producer, Executive Producer, Head of Production).
Experience in sonic branding, music production, composition, sound design, or audio post is ideal.
Experience with broader advertising or creative production backgrounds with strong music knowledge and relevant client experience is also considered.
Experience working with brands, agencies, and creative teams.
Confident managing significant budgets and commercial conversations.
Knowledgeable about music licensing, usage, and rights.
Familiar with production music, publishing, and PRS.
Excellent client communication skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make decisions.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously.
Proactive and able to work independently.
Commercially minded with an eye for opportunities.
Strong people management skills.
Diplomatic in navigating feedback or challenging conversations.
Collaborative and comfortable working in a small, hands-on team.
Interested in music, creativity, and culture.
Comfortable using project management software like Streamtime.
Ideally connected to a network of composers, musicians, studios, and freelance creatives.
Confirmation of right to work in the UK.
