About the Role
Works with Corps/Area Command Officer and Development department in communicating with about adopting Angels with donors and volunteers needs and assessments. Ensures all information and necessary items to fulfill the adoption of Angels in a timely and efficient manner for pick up and return of gifts. Manages the Angel Tree Program; recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers, ensuring adequate staffing to meet program needs. Prepares records and reports for the Christmas Angel Tree program.
Responsibilities
- Interviews, recruits, screens, and selects volunteers for the Christmas Angel Tree Program.
- Posts volunteer listings at Malls to ensure staffing at all times.
- Maintains current volunteer names at the Christmas Distribution or warehouse facilities, either written or electronically.
- Calls and recruits volunteers if time slots are not filled, reviewing previous year’s lists.
- Recruits replacement volunteers if a volunteer cannot report.
- Maintains statistics, placement, and follow-up for all Angels at Corps or Area Command locations.
- Communicates with donors about adopting Angels.
- Assists in assigning Angels to donors in TSAMM.
- Coordinates and manages the preparation of Angel orders for donors.
- Communicates and coordinates the pick-up of Angel orders with donors.
- Assists with Client Interviewing/Database entry.
- Assists with an Appreciation Program for employees and volunteers at the end of the season.
- Contacts Corporate Sponsors regarding the number of angels they require, preparing materials and angels for delivery.
- Answers all telephone calls politely and courteously, obtaining answers from appropriate personnel if unknown.
- Provides accurate and complete information about Christmas Angel Tree Programs.
- Compiles information for booklets, kits, and notebooks for meetings and recruitment.
- Evaluates and provides a report on the success of the Christmas Angel Tree Program at the end of the season.
- Performs other related work as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Two years of experience working in an office environment (preferred).
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.
- Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, and computer.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance.
- Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 75-80% of work time.
- Work may require driving a vehicle where there may be discomforts associated with heavy traffic or changes in weather.
