About the Role
The Obesity, Muscle and Metabolism group is seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to support the development of therapeutics for muscle diseases, including muscular dystrophies, myopathies, and myositis. This role offers the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge tissue engineering and disease modeling research.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, expand, and modulate cells in vitro.
- Generate engineered muscle tissue from primary or iPSC-derived progenitor cells.
- Optimize cellular assays and develop readouts for muscle function.
- Handle and care for mice, including performing procedures such as blood and tissue sample collection.
- Process tissue samples for molecular and histological assessments.
- Collaborate closely with cross-organizational teams.
- Analyze data using biological and statistical software such as ImageJ, Flowjo, Excel, and Prism.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. degree in a relevant field.
- 1-2 years of experience in muscle biology or a related discipline.
- Experience in tissue culture, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, and histology (e.g., IHC, IF) is highly preferred.
- Experience in mouse handling is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and experience with biological data collection and analysis is highly preferred.
