About the Role
Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is seeking a full-time Maintenance Supervisor to perform general maintenance and repairs on complex systems, contributing to the park's mission, values, and standards. The role involves planning and executing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing systems, and providing technical leadership to the maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Perform and plan preventive maintenance on park facilities, infrastructure, equipment, furniture, fixtures, appliances, and park systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, mechanical).
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair facility and park systems, diagnosing issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Evaluate equipment failures and identify solutions to improve system reliability and maintenance practices.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to maintain an inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Serve as a technical leader, providing training and mentorship to other technicians.
- Participate in seasonal maintenance activities, including snow removal and water system winterization.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized tasks and repairs.
- Provide customer service to park visitors, answering questions and conveying park information.
- Follow through on daily work orders, assigning projects and reporting progress.
- Utilize Cartegraph for service requests, tasks, and preventative maintenance tracking.
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and troubleshooting efforts.
- Evaluate in-house vs. contractor work and make recommendations.
- Support on-site work of external contractors to ensure quality, timely, and safe completion.
Requirements
- Three to five years of experience in facilities/maintenance or parks maintenance.
- Experience in facilities maintenance, technical operations, and preventative maintenance.
- Previous experience as a supervisor or senior team member is preferred.
- General knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.
- Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose repair projects.
- Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors year-round in various environments.
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and ensure team productivity.
- Hardworking, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Punctual, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic computer/smartphone skills.
- Comfortable working independently or with a team.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and tasks.
