About the Role
Amazon DSP's Live Events Optimizer (LEO) is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to own systems that forecast live sports and streaming TV inventory. This role involves large-scale data engineering, real-time services, and applied ML to build a platform that ingests broadcast schedules and live game state, resolves them into a canonical view, and translates forecasted supply into actionable signals for pacing and bidding.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and delivery of large-scale, business-critical systems end to end.
- Serve as the engineering counterpart to applied and data scientists, translating research prototypes into production systems.
- Build and own the platform layer for science, including data ingestion, feature pipelines, automated training, inference, model deployment, and monitoring.
- Drive technical decisions that span multiple teams and build alignment on approaches.
- Raise the operational bar for the team with instrumentation, accuracy telemetry, and operational readiness reviews.
- Identify and pursue high-leverage engineering work and advocate for it with data.
- Mentor engineers and scientists on software design, testing, and production discipline.
- Represent the team's technical position to senior leaders and partner teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
