About the Role
Sun Chemical is seeking a Production Technician to join our New Brunswick, NJ facility. This role is crucial for maintaining production efficiency and quality in our packaging and graphic solutions manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Measure, weigh, and load pigments and resins into mills according to batch tickets.
- Adjust controls to regulate temperature and times of mixtures.
- Observe safety precautions to prevent injuries, accidents, and fires.
- Patrol work areas to detect leaks and equipment malfunctions.
- Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs and conducting audits.
- Monitor recording instruments and listen for warning signals to ensure process conformity.
- Control or operate chemical processes, systems, and machines with PLC.
- Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality.
- Draw samples of products and conduct quality control tests.
- Package and label finished products in compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload trucks and record incoming raw materials.
- Pick finished goods for shipping.
- Correctly label hazardous and non-hazardous goods per DOT requirements.
- Keep production logs.
- Clean production equipment and work areas.
- Collect and transfer hazardous or non-hazardous waste.
- Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to supervisors and coworkers.
- Perform general maintenance such as greasing and lubricating equipment.
Requirements
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to learn electronic batch ticketing (EBT) systems quickly.
- Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Math skills and ability to work with percentages.
- Capable of repeatedly lifting 55+ lbs.
- Capable of standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to work on elevated surfaces using stairs or step stools when required.
- Ability to work 40 hours weekly and overtime.
- Able to read and understand batch tickets.
- Able to lift 55 pounds.
- Able to climb stairs/ladders.
