About the Role
Hadco Metal Trading seeks an experienced Forklift Driver for overnight shifts at our Melville, NY facility. This role involves safely unloading metal materials from deliveries and loading customer orders onto trucks for shipment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklift to offload material orders from overnight shuttles.
- Safely load completed orders onto flatbed trucks for next day deliveries.
- Assure that material is carefully and safely loaded for optimum, damage-free delivery.
- Communicate with delivery drivers daily.
- Scan material documents to maintain accurate inventory and shipping records.
- Utilize computer systems such as our company ERP system for routing, inventory, and other necessary information.
- Comply with transportation-related policies, for proper distribution of weight per DOT and government regulations.
- Promote safe work activities and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of experience as a safe forklift operator in a distribution environment where responsibilities include loading/unloading tractor trailers and flatbed trucks.
- Experience moving large, heavy, often bulky loads (our metal products come in all sizes, shapes, lengths, and weights).
- Ability to work overnight Sunday-Thursday 11:30PM-7:30AM without exception.
- Commitment to report to work on time and reliable transportation.
- Experience using computers, scanners, and related technology and systems used in warehousing and distribution.
- Knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb on to truck beds as needed.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
